MASQUERADE FESTIVAL ESCAZU CENTRO, October 29, 30 & 31

From In 1996 the government ofCosta Rica signed a decree to declare31 October of each year on the Day of the Costa RicanTraditional Masquerade, with the primary aim ofpromoting awareness of the different existing cultural manifestations in our society, as a contribution aimed to revive and strengthen the cultural identity of the Costa Rican.
With this gesture, since 16 years is given in recognition of acultural practice that is one of the most authentic and picturesque traditional celebrations that vibrant and colorful streets of manytowns and bring fond memories to all who live with joy the timesof our childhood.
The Devil, Death, Segua, La Llorona, la Giganta, the Free riders, the Chingoleta, Priest Headless own characters and othertraditional Costa Rican masquerade, are an important part of ourmost ingrained habits, where both the development and paradethem, allowing the expression of age-old traditions and highlightthe creative talents of our craftsmen.

The Masquerade Party, is a traditional festival of the city of Escazu,

Oct. 29
Activities:
gastronomy and crafts fair from 1:00 pm
Leaving the Park parade through the main streets of city of Escazu  from 6:30 pm
Presentation of the Municipal Marimba at 7:30 pm

30th of October
Activities:
gastronomy and crafts fair from 11:00 am
Exhibition of masks in the park from 3:00 pm Escazu
Leaving the Park parade through the main streets of Escazu  from 6:30 pm
Tertulia History of the Masquerade in Escazu with historian Jorge Montoya and mask makers Escazu 7 m – 8 pm
Escazú presentation of folk dance group from 8 pm to 8:30 pm

Exhibition of masks in the park from 1:00 pm Escazu
Maroon Music from 2 pm to 4 pm
Grand Parade through the streets of Escazu 6 pm
Masquerades display dances in Escazu Park 7:30 pm
Recognition Festival honoree, Mr. Enrique Morales Barboza 8:15 pm
