From November 2 to 10 of this year, Escazú will be the cradle of community theater.
Seven groups from different parts of the country will visit, gyms, schools, cultural centers and unconventional spaces to enthuse with their proposals hundreds of people who look forward to this festival year after year.
“The magic is in you” is a hallmark of the festival that fascinates adults and children in each of the programmed activities that make each person live this Costa Rican theater festival in a very special way.
In addition to the shows open to the general public, the schools are also an important part of the festival, for this reason they will have special performances programmed for the students’ enjoyment.
“The theater goes to the street” is the proposal with which this VI Edition is presented, appropriating public spaces, parks, streets, sidewalks and any other place where the scenic event can be generated.
There are four countries invited this year with shows and workshops of great importance, being the main attraction of the multiscale proposal that is integrated into the programming.
Argentina: Martín de Goycoechea comes for the fourth consecutive year to give continuity to the dramaturgy work that is so necessary in our environment, this time with a “Assembly Laboratory in alternative spaces” that will allow not only the interpreter but the public to have an experience immersive of the theater.
Guatemala: As a guest country he brings us a workshop “Juego público y comparsa”, as well as a stage show “La Feria”. The group “Cája Lúdica” is in charge of showing us the work that develops from the street theater and as the experience the spectator becomes an important part of the work.
Spain: To close with a flourish the actor and mime “Mai Rojas” visits us from Spain to give a “Physical Theater Workshop”. Mai has a degree in textual interpretation from the Royal School of Dramatic Arts of Madrid and specialized in Body Mime at the International School of Corporeal Mime in London.
As interpreter he has developed his work as an actor with Cirque du Soleil and as creator of shows in his company Los Escultores del Aire.
In the area of reflection we will have two conversations moderated by the festival director, the Costa Rican actor and musician Jose Luis Solís, with national artists of wide trajectory in addition to the international guests.
A great parade on November 3 will fill color the main streets of Escazu, inviting the public to participate in this great scenic party
